SONIC ART - MANIPULATING BRISTOL CATHEDRAL
|
I created a number of studies that provided a unique 'sonic perspective' on the construction of Bristol Cathedral. After field recordings had been made I processed and combined them in a number of ways - using various software applications, such as Max MSP and Paul's Extreme Sound stretch.
The site-specific nature of the task was realised by capturing audio recordings of bells, choirs, footsteps and impulse responses from the cathedral. These were combined with construction site recordings made using contact microphones and a Zoom recorder. Through a number of studies and performances, the final piece was realised and performed using a Kaoss pad and through live manipulation of Abysnth 5 parameters. Please take a listen on Soundcloud. |
